Sophia Chwen-Jy Chiu, Chairman of TECO (1504), pointed out at the Smart City Summit & Expo today that the Group’s smart transformation is towards a low-carbon layout. Currently, Guanyin Factory (II) has obtained a 5MW feeder capacity from Taiwan Power Company and it is estimated that 1-2MW energy storage system will be built first in the first half of the year, and 4MW will be completed by the end of the year. As for YATEC Engineering Corporation, which has reinvested about 66% of its shares, the energy storage order capacity has reached 36MW, and it can start contributing revenue in Q4 of this year at the earliest. TECO participated in the Smart City Summit & Expo today, showing 5 major solutions for smart low-carbon life. In terms of green power, Sophia said that both TECO Guanyin Factory (I) and (II) have applied to Taiwan Power Company for feeder capacity, each of which is 5MW. Guanyin Factory (II) has been approved by Taiwan Power Company, and it is expected that 1-2MW of energy storage will be built in the first half of this year. The system aims to build 4MW throughout the year, and after the completion of Q3, TECO will participate in AFC service of Taiwan Power Company.

Sophia said frankly that the feeder capacity and efficiency of Taiwan Power Company are very big problems. It is difficult to apply for the feeder because the capacity is all taken.  The slow promotion speed of Taiwan Power Company is the biggest problem that we have faced at present.

The first stage of net zero carbon emission of TECO will reach the target in 2020 ahead of schedule, and the next step of carbon reduction project will be started in October 2021. The goal is to reduce carbon by 50% in 10 years from 2020 to 2030, and we hope to achieve two-thirds of 50% before 2025.

In response to the recent power outage, Sophia said that at present it sounds like a power outage rather than a power shortage, which is a concern for the stability of the domestic power grid. Therefore, it is optimistic that the demand for energy storage will continue to increase, depending on whether it is to combine photovoltaic or wind energy, and it is a rigid demand. In the future, the integration of light storage and wind storage will be the trend. TECO has made clear progress in the two areas, especially in the field of wind storage. TECO stand in the favorable conditions for business opportunities.
In addition, YATEC Engineering Corporation, the investment company of TECO Group, is also actively accelerating the construction of solar power plants. Sheng Quan Lin, chairman of YATEC Engineering Corporation, said that the company provides system integration and complete solutions, etc. The construction cost of 1MW is about NT$30-40 million, and then there is the maintenance cost. YATEC Engineering Corporation currently has orders for 6MW complete system in hand, and it is estimated that it will start to contribute revenue in Q4 at the latest.

Sheng Quan Lin further pointed out that after the popularization of green energy in the future, it is necessary to combine green energy with energy storage. When the gas station becomes a charging station, the integration of light and storage will be formed, including equipment and energy management systems. He mentioned that due to the shortage of solar cells at present, the delivery period is extended. In order to ensure the stable supply of solar cells this year, the 30MW order was first placed in late December last year, and it is expected to be delivered this year, but the construction of the site will not be completed until next year.
