As demand for AI servers and high-speed computing continues to grow, copper foil products are advancing from HVLP3 to HVLP4—placing greater requirements on surface roughness, tension stability, and process accuracy.
The copper foil manufacturer faced challenges caused by aging equipment and insufficient transmission control accuracy. During high-speed operation, tension fluctuations and surface scratches affected product consistency, making it difficult to meet HVLP4 quality requirements.
Drawing on years of experience in roll-to-roll applications, YATEC upgraded the production line’s process control system by:
- Converting from a single-drive, multi-axis configuration to independent drive control for each axis, minimizing transmission errors
- Replacing the existing inverter-based control with servo drive control to improve accuracy and system response
- Applying high-precision closed-loop control to continuously correct operating conditions and maintain stable tension at higher production speeds
Measured Results
Copper foil surface roughness consistently controlled below 0.6 μm
Line speed increased from 800 m/h to 900 m/h, delivering a 12.5% increase in production capacity
These upgrades improved both product consistency and production efficiency while establishing the precision control capabilities required for HVLP4 manufacturing—strengthening the customer’s competitiveness in the high-end copper foil market.
